This handbag features authentic Jingxi Zhuang Brocade, a national-level intangible cultural heritage of China and one of the country’s four great traditional brocades. With a history spanning thousands of years, Zhuang Brocade is the signature handwoven textile of the Zhuang ethnic group, celebrated for its bold colors, intricate geometric patterns and sturdy, long-lasting texture. Each piece is woven on traditional wooden looms through a rigorous multi-step process, carrying the collective wisdom, aesthetic sensibilities and cultural memories of the Zhuang people.
This collection is created in partnership with Master Li Cunling, the 6th-generation inheritor of Jingxi Zhuang Brocade and a leading figure in ethnic craft preservation. The signature Hui Zi Ju Hua (Meander & Chrysanthemum) pattern is a classic Zhuang design: the continuous meander lines echo the flow of rivers, symbolizing endless good fortune and recurring prosperity; the chrysanthemum pattern, with its layered blooming petals, stands for resilience, longevity and quiet grace.
